Check another one off for life experiences. I opened a coconut last week.
I’ve always avoided them at the grocery store because I thought it would be too much of a hassle to open one and it turns out I WAS RIGHT. However, as I have small children, I couldn’t refuse their request to try.
My tools were a drill, a hammer and a ziplock bag. The hammer worked best (sorry downstairs neighbors) but it was very hard to get out any coconut “meat.” Of course, you have to remember that I bought this coconut in Sweden, so perhaps it was not quite as fresh as it could be.
Anyway, it’s checked off the list now. Done. From now on, I buy my coconut milk in a can.
