More Winter Tips

Winter is here, and if you’re like most people, you’re spending most days hiding under five blankets or carefully navigating the icy sidewalk and praying you don’t fall down… AGAIN. But what if I told you that you there’s actually a few ways you could enjoy the winter? That’s right, it’s possible. Just take a look!

Pro-winter tips:

1. Turn on the continuing fireplace on your T.V.

You know what I’m talking about. It’s on Netflix, YouTube, etc. The continuing fireplace, complete with crackling background fire noises. In the past, much like most people, I’ve only used the fireplace T.V. for Christmas. And it’s interesting how your brain will trick you, because I’ve noticed that we all keep about a 2-foot distance from the T.V. because of the “heat” from the fireplace. I never considered doing this during normal days, but why not?

The woman who gave me this tip said that some evenings, she turns on the t.v. fireplace and sits down with a nice cup of tea and a book.

But I’ve also found a way to make it even better. I noticed that a few candle companies sell scents labeled “campfire” or “bonfire.” So, just buy one of those to burn while your T.V. fireplace is on. (And then exchange the tea for hot chocolate.)

Winter coziness achieved!

2. Make your coat toasty for the next morning

Now this one works for places that have radiators attached to the walls. Do NOT try this on portable radiators or over your fireplace.

Hang your coat on a radiator overnight, and it will be nice and toasty when you wear it the next day! What could be a better way to start your morning than sliding on a nice, warm winter coat before heading into the dark, snowy winter?

(Warning: Remove chocolates from pocket.)

3. Wear pajamas under your clothes

No one sees your underwear on a daily basis, right? So why not just wear your cozy pajamas underneath your clothes?

Most pajama pants will fit under jeans, and the same goes for pajama tops under a sweater or sweatshirt! Especially those form-fitting, snug pajamas.

You’ll feel like a superhero all day, ready to tear off your “sensible work clothes” when you get home and turn into Super Lazy!

4. Practice snowball throwing for self-defense

Don’t feel like you’re doing anything productive in the winter months? Winter is the perfect time for building up your self-defense skills! You never know when you might need to protect yourself from a surprise snowball attack.

Most days, you’re surrounded by ammunition! It’s unlimited. Practice your aim with at least 3 snowballs per day! They say practice makes perfect and you’ll be ready at a moment’s notice the next time some sneaky kid at the bus stop tries something. Enjoy the look of shock on their face as you land a perfectly packed snowball directly at the opening of their coat, so they have to spend the rest of the day wet and cold.

Or is this just a problem in my neighborhood? Oh well, it’s always good to be prepared.

5. Throw a tropical themed party

Turn your house into a tropical party zone. Get some of those inflatable palm trees (most likely on sale this time of year), give your guests fake leis to wear, and blast tropical tunes like you’re on an endless beach vacation.

Wear your loudest Hawaiian shirt and make some fruity drinks with tiny umbrellas. Set up some beach towels on your furniture and if anyone mentions the snow outside, correct them by stating you are located directly on a white-sand beach.

And don’t forget to top off your party with a beachy scent. Light a coconut-scented candle! Keep up the atmosphere all winter long, even without your beach party guests. Wear flip-flops and a straw hat around the house. You’ll thrive at your never-ending beach party.
